This classification makes it possible to assess the level of pollution a given product can introduce into indoor air. Ceramic tiles are products of mineral, not organic, chemistry and undergo firing cycles at 1200°, ensuring the total destruction of any Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs): all ceramic tiles are classified A+, as they release no toxic substances into the environment.

CCC certification, introduced in 2002, applies both to imported products and to Chinese-made products intended for that market. It concerns safety and health in general and, in the case of ceramic tiles, refers only to porcelain stoneware tiles with absorption of 0.5% or less.
