Lines – metal becomes part of the ceramic surface

Lines is a collection of porcelain stoneware tiles designed by StorageMilano for Ceramica Bardelli, conceived for floors and walls and defined by essential surfaces, architectural proportions and meticulously crafted material details. Available in 60×60 cm and 60×120 cm, the collection is developed across three colour families – light grey, anthracite and mud – designed to interact naturally with contemporary materials, furnishings and surfaces.

The distinctive feature of Lines is its decorative version, in which a precious metal strip in satin-finished brass or steel is integrated directly into the tile through a non-through surface incision created using waterjet cutting technology. The process, developed using a technology patented by Ceramica Bardelli and studied together with the designers StorageMilano, allows the metal insert to be housed with extreme precision within the porcelain stoneware.

The strip is therefore positioned perfectly flush with the surface, with no protruding elements: ceramic and metal form a continuous, clean and rigorous plane. The decorative detail does not appear as an element simply applied to the tile, but as a mark integrated into the material itself.

The flatness of the surface fully enhances the luminosity and precious quality of the metal, while at the same time protecting the decorative detail and preserving the solidity and resistance of the porcelain stoneware. Light catches the strip and changes its perception according to the viewing angle, transforming an essential geometry into a refined architectural element.

With Lines, ceramic technology, precision craftsmanship and design research come together in a surface where metal becomes an integral part of the composition: a detail conceived for residential architecture, hospitality, retail and contemporary interior design.
