Profile

A language between image and narrative

Riccardo Capuzzo is an Italian designer born in Milano, working across visual design, decoration and creative design. Trained at SPD Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milano, he has developed a multidisciplinary path in which image, communication and design culture come together with a strong narrative sensibility.

After his studies, he worked as a visual designer between Chicago and Istanbul, before moving to Riga, Lettonia, where he deepened his experience in production, logistics and product development within an international company specializing in customized decoration. For four consecutive years, he served on the jury of the Red Dot Design Award in the Communication Design category.

From this experience emerged a personal research in which the sea becomes both visual language and imagined dimension. With Aquatic Creatures, Capuzzo builds a universe inhabited by whales, turtles, crabs, jellyfish and other marine figures, turning illustration, interior design and home décor into a coherent narrative made of symbols, atmospheres and submerged stories.

Ceramica Bardelli

Riccardo Capuzzo × Ceramica Bardelli

From hand drawing to ceramic surfaces.

The encounter between Riccardo Capuzzo and Ceramica Bardelli brings the Aquatic Creatures universe from paper to ceramic surfaces. The illustrative language, built through hand drawing, pencil and Indian ink, is translated into material while preserving the project’s narrative strength and fantastical character.

From this dialogue comes Aquatic Creatures, a decorative collection featuring four designs — Atlantis City, Mongolfiere, Sea Maioliche and Seaweed — cold-printed in relief on 60×120 cm porcelain stoneware slabs from the Colorama collection. The surface becomes a narrative: an immersive landscape where art, nature, illustration and ceramic culture meet.
